Hong Kong to hold 12th Asian Financial Forum to discuss economic sustainability

The 12th Asian Financial Forum will be held on Jan. 14 to 15 in Hong Kong, with attendees from different countries and regions discussing the latest global economic situation, the Hong Kong Trade Development Council announced on Thursday.

The forum will be jointly organized by the government of China's Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council under the theme "Creating a Sustainable and Inclusive Future". More than 120 policymakers, financial and business leaders and investors will examine topical issues in the global economy and explore new opportunities.

Diana Cesar, chairperson of the Asian Financial Forum Steering Committee, said that this year's forum will explore recurrent topics of interest, including financial innovation, technology and sustainability, and entrepreneurship.

The first plenary session on the first day of the forum will explore ways to drive sustainable economic growth and build a better future in the face of opportunities and challenges around the world.

A panel discussion under the theme "Managing Global Financial Risks and Opportunities in 2019" will see financial experts share insights on the global market and financial policies.

Four new panel discussions will be held at the forum this year, they are "Global Investment in the New Economy", "Financial Innovation", "Start-ups and Entrepreneurship" and "Risk Management along the Belt and Road".

The newly launched FinTech Showcase will allow international financial institutions and technology corporations to showcase innovative solutions to the industry on site, promoting the use of new technology to help the industry stay competitive and create a more sustainable and inclusive future.
