China's embassy in Cyprus organized a Belt and Road seminar on June 6. Nearly 100 people attended the event, including Cyprus’ education and culture minister as well as the Chairman of the Cyprus-China Commerce Chamber.

Chinese Ambassador to Cyprus Huang Xingyuan said that Cyprus plays an important role in the Belt and Road construction. The two countries are both restructuring their economies, and have huge potential and promising prospects for bilateral cooperation.

The two sides should try to synergize the Belt and Road Initiative with the development plans, policies and strategies of Cyprus, so as to strengthen interest merging.

Costas Kadis, minister of education and culture of Cyprus, said he has attended the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation in Beijing in May and gained a deeper understanding of the Initiative.

He said the initiative aims to improve people’s wellbeing along the routes, ensuring balanced development of these countries and it strives for mutually beneficial development results.

Larkos Larkou, chairman of the board of directors of Cyprus News Agency, said the Initiative is of great significance to the sustainable development of the world. It helps countries to look for new partners in their development path. Promoting globalization is not just an option, but the only way to address the challenges.
