East China’s Fujian province signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation with Cebu Province of the Philippines on Sept. 8 to jointly advance the construction of the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road.

The MOU would deepen cooperation between Fujian and Cebu, said Tang Dengjie, the governor of Fujian province, noting that Fujian province would go further with reform and opening up to push forward Belt and Road Construction by giving full play to its advantageous position as a core area of the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road.

Cebu will strengthen communication and cooperation with Fujian in fields of economy, trade, culture and education, and learn from Fujian in ecology protection and economic development, according to Hilario P. Davide III, the Governor of Cebu province.
