 China First Heavy Industries (CFHI) was formerly the First Heavy Machinery Works, which was built since 1954. It is one of the fifty-three backbone enterprises under the management of the Central Government that directly related to the national security and economy. The company was reconstructed as the China First Heavy Industries in December, 2008 and listed on the stock market integrally in February, 2010. By the end of 2010, the number of its employees is 11,679, including 2,270 engineers and technical staff, with the general asset amounts to RMB 29.1 billions.

The principal business of CFHI is to manufacture key technological equipment and provide hi-tech products and services for industries such as steel and iron, electricity, energy, automobile, mining, petrochemical, transportation, etc., and to undertake the corresponding international trades. Its main four industrial sectors are: Energy sector represented by complete equipment of nuclear power generation, hydropower generation, wind power generation, coal chemistry equipment, petroleum exploitation and processing equipment; Industrial sector such as complete metallurgical equipment, automobile manufacturing equipment, hot forging equipment, seawater desalination equipment and heavy machine tools; Eco-friendly sector represented by packages of steel slag recycling equipment and MSW incineration equipment; Equipment basic material sector represented by castings and forgings for nuclear, thermal and hydro power generation equipment, heavy-duty pressure vessel and marine equipment. Up till now, CFHI has supplied more than 2 million tons of machinery products for the construction of national economy, developed and manufactured over 300 kinds of new products that filled over 400 technological vacancies in China. Its products successively went to many large-scale steel and iron companies, such as Ansteel, Baosteel, WISCO, Shougang, Benxi Steel, Pangang, etc; Auto makers such as FAW and Er Automobile; Petrochemical enterprises such as SINOPEC, CNPC, CNOOC, etc.; Non-ferrous metallurgical enterprises such as NELA, SWA, Bohai Aluminum Industries, etc.; Large coal mining bases such as Pingshuo Coal Mine, Zhunger Coal Mine, etc. CFHI has not only promoted the level of manufacturing heavy-duty machinery products in China, but also effectively supported many major construction projects. Meanwhile, CFHI has been vigorously implementing its Going-Out policy and developing the international market. It has established a widely cooperation relationships with many noted international companies, such as SMS Siemag, P&H, AREVA, Siemens VAI, Doosan, etc.

In the "Twelfth-Five-Year-Plan", CFHI will carry on with the implementation of the Scientific Outlook of Development, abide by the strategy of "Sustained Growth, Incorporation Management, Market Internationalization and Technological Integration". Development of its manufacturing bases in Fulaerji, Dalian, Tianjin and at the delta area of the Yangtze River will be accelerated, and the four business sectors further consolidated. The company will speed up its pace in shifting from merely product business management to an integration of product and capital management; from mainly industrial equipment manufacturing to a widely range of products including energy, industrial, environmental-friendly equipment and equipment basic material, etc.; from focusing on mainly domestic market to attaching equal importance to both domestic and international markets; from mainly supply manufactured products to provide both products and technological services to customers. Along with promoting the business scales, CFHI pays more attention to technological and managerial innovations, as well as cultivation of its staff members in order to achieve the goal to build CFHI into a world noted enterprise and supplier with core competitiveness in major technological equipment.
