    China Road and Bridge Engineering Co. Ltd. was founded with the approval of the State Council, and became one of the first four Chinese enterprises to "go global" into the international engineering contracting market.

    China Harbor Engineering Co. Ltd. was established with the approval of the State Council, giving it access to the international engineering contracting market.

  • 1988

    China Harbor Engineering Co., Ltd. and the port and shipping construction enterprises under the Ministry of Communications merged to form China Harbor Engineering Corporation.

    China Road and Bridge Engineering Co. Ltd. and the road and bridge construction enterprises under the Ministry of Communications merged to form China Road and Bridge Engineering Corporation.

    China Harbor Engineering Corporation was restructured into China Harbor Engineering (Group) Corporation.

    China Road and Bridge Engineering Corporation and its affiliated entities were restructured to establish China Road & Bridge (Group) Corporation.

    In December, China Harbor Engineering (Group) Corporation and China Road & Bridge (Group) Corporation merged to form China Communications Construction Group (CCCG).

    In December, China Communications Construction Company Limited (CCCC), a subsidiary of CCCG, went public on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, becoming the first ultra-large state-owned enterprise to achieve an overseas listing.

    In August, CCCG acquired F&G, a world-leading offshore drilling unit design service and equipment provider in the U.S.

  • 2014

    In March, the Second Penang Bridge, contracted and built by CCCG, was opened to traffic in Malaysia, becoming the longest sea-crossing bridge in Southeast Asia.

    In May, the first phase of the Addis Ababa-Adama Highway project in Ethiopia contracted by CCCG was completed and launched, and the construction of the second-phase project started.

    In December, the Zemun-Borca Bridge in Serbia contracted and built by CCCG was opened to traffic, becoming the first bridge to be built by a Chinese company in Europe.

    In May, CCCG completed the acquisition of the entire shareholding of John Holland company in Australia.

    In February, the North-South Highway in Jamaica, built and invested by CCCG, was opened for operation.

    In April, CCCG completed the acquisition of 80 percent of the shares of Concremat Engenharia in Brazil.

    In May, Kenya’s Mombasa-Nairobi Railway, which was contracted and built by CCCG, using Chinese-made equipment and adopting Chinese design standards, was opened for operation.

    In August, the construction of the eastern coast railway in Malaysia by CCCG began. This project was the largest single project under the Belt and Road Initiative.

    In March, the container terminal at the deepwater port of Kribi, the largest port in Cameroon, which was built and operated by CCCG, was launched into operation.

    In May, the Pulau Muara Besar Bridge in Brunei Darussalam, contracted and built by CCCG, was officially opened to traffic, becoming the first sea-crossing bridge in Brunei.

    In August, the China-Maldives Friendship Bridge in the Maldives, contracted and built by CCCG, was officially opened to traffic, becoming the first modern bridge in the Maldives.

    In November, the Maputo-Katembe Bridge in Mozambique, contracted and built by CCCG, was officially opened to traffic, becoming the largest suspension bridge in Africa.

    In January, the land reclamation of Colombo Port City Development Project (CPCDP) in Sri Lanka, which was invested and built by CCCG, was completed.

    In August, the new container terminal at the Walvis Bay, Namibia contracted and built by CCCG, was delivered. This was one of the largest projects in Namibia since its independence in 1990.

    In October, the Sri Lankan side signed the land allocation document for CPCDP, confirming that the land ownership procedures for the project was completed, marking the beginning of the land construction phase of the second-phase project.

    In October, as an extension of Mombasa-Nairobi Railway in Kenya, the Nairobi-Naivasha section of the first-phase of the Nariobi-Malaba Railway project in Kenya contracted and built by CCCG was opened to traffic.

    In July, the secondary highway section (Mansehra-Thakot) of the second-phase Karakoram Highway in Pakistan (Havelian-Thakot), designed and built by CCCG, was opened to traffic, marking the completion of the entire second-phase of the project.
