German expert: Big data foundation supports medium & high-end manufacturing development in Guiyang

"Whenever I visited Guiyang, I felt the change of this city, with the development of the big data industry, I believe it will stand out in smart city construction and medium & high-end manufacturing development," said Otthein Herzog, Fellow of the German National Academy of Science and Engineering in an interview during 2019 International Experts Gathering in Guiyang. He believed that eco-friendly Guiyang will open a new page in the future development of the digital economy with the constant development of Guiyang's big data industry.

2019 International Experts Gathering in Guiyang, with the theme "Chinese Data Valley Leads Intelligent Manufacturing", brought together renowned experts from around the world, to discuss the development of medium & high-end industry.

Big data development will provide strong support for smart city construction and development. Currently Guiyang has completed several application platforms such as "Data Cage", "Party Building Cloud", "Livelihood Building", "Smart Logistics" and "Smart Medicine", and formed a layout of big data development in governmental, civil and commercial fields during Guiyang's smart city construction.

Guiyang's big data industry is thriving. The foundation of the big data industry has provided an opportunity for the development of medium & high-end manufacturing in Guiyang. Chen Yan, Mayor of Guiyang, said, "On October 23, Guiyang appeared for the fourth consecutive year on the Best-Performing Cities China 2019 list released by Milken Institute, a U.S. independent economic think tank. Guiyang's big data industry is prospering with over 1,600 big data enterprises, Guiyang is expected to achieve primary business revenues of 120 billion yuan this year, Chinese Data Valley has become a bright symbol of Guiyang to the world."

"Now we are adhering to high standards, speeding up high-level opening, advancing high-quality development, and focusing on developing six new industries: advanced equipment manufacturing, medium & high-end consumer goods manufacturing, new energy, new materials, digital and healthcare," said Chen, adding, "The integrated development of medium & high-end manufacturing and big data with the real economy, just in good time, with a targeted topic, totally tallies with Guiyang's development strategy."

"This is my first time to visit Guizhou, I have heard of Guiyang's big data development early, this city known as 'Chinese Silicon Valley' will manage the integrated development of big data with other industries, and the solid foundation of the big data industry will provide support and guarantee for the development of Guiyang's medium & high-end industry," said Dr. Seeram Ramakrishna, Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering, Fellow of the Academy of Engineering, Singapore, Fellow of the Indian National Academy of Engineering and Fellow of the ASEAN Academy of Engineering and Technology.

"Guizhou hopes to work with experts and scholars to build a number of innovation platforms such as engineering research center, technical innovation center, manufacturing innovation center and key laboratory, to accomplish trans-regional R&D cooperation, achieve win-win, and provide technical and intellectual support for Guiyang to implement the innovation drive strategy and strengthen the real economy," said Chen.

The Forum on Innovative Development of New Materials Industry and the Forum on High-end Manufacturing will be held during the event. At the forums, experts, entrepreneurs and representatives of Guiyang's relevant departments will exchange ideas on Guiyang's problems and confusions arising in the development of these fields and how Guiyang gears itself to international conventions.
