Guiyang listed among "Best-Performing Cities China"

According to the "Best-Performing Cities China" 2019 list released by Milken Institute on October 23, Guiyang made the list again after 2016, 2017 and 2018, ranking 7th among "Best-Performing Cities China (Tier 1 & 2).

In 2016, Guiyang topped the "Best-Performing Cities China" list released by Milken Institute. In 2017, Guiyang moved into the top 10 for the second time, ranking 3rd in China ahead of tier-1 cities like Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen, behind Chengdu and Chongqing only. In 2018, Guiyang entered the top 10 again, ranking 5th in China. In 2019, Guiyang made it into the top 10 for the fourth time, ranking 7th in China ahead of cities like Changchun, Wuhan and Xiamen.

The 2019 list tracked the economic performance of 264 Chinese tier-1, 2 & 3 cities and analyzed growth measurement. The ranking indicators include one-year (2017-2018) and five-year (2013-2018) for jobs, wages and gross regional product (GRP) per capita, three-year (2015-2018) foreign direct investment (FDI) growth, FDI/GRP ratio (2018) and LQ for high-added-value industry employment.

The Milken Institute is a famous U.S. independent economic think tank which aims to promote reform and innovation worldwide. It has long believed that cities and their surrounding areas are the key economic drivers of a country, cast its eyes on China in 2015 and released the Best-Performing Cities China list for the first time.
