On December 11, 2018, Paul Michael Romer, an American economist and the winner of the 2018 Nobel Prize in Economics, decided to accept the invitation from the Organizing Committee of Big Data Expo to attend Big Data Expo 2019 and speak at the opening ceremony, a high-level dialogue and other sessions.

Romer successively worked as an associate professor at the University of Rochester, a professor at the University of Chicago and a professor at the University of California, Berkeley. He was named one of America's 25 most influential people by Time magazine in 1997. His most important work is in the field of economic growth. In 1986, he created an endogenous economic growth model, completely incorporated knowledge into the economic and technology system, and made it the endogenous variable of economic growth. At the World Bank Economic Development Annual Conference in 1992, he further applied the ideas above in studies of development strategies of developing countries and regions, considering provision and use of more creativity or knowledge will have a direct bearing on the sustained growth of the national or regional economy.

As a global big data event, Big Data Expo has been held successfully four times, and attracted global political, business, academic and media elitists in the big data field, including Don Tapscott known as "Father of Digital Economy", Jack Ma, Chairman of Alibaba Group; Pony Ma, Chairman and CEO of Tencent and Robin Li, Founder and Chairman of Baidu.
