The KDU Teaching Hospital Project in Sri Lanka
In March 2013, the Poly International Holdings Co., Ltd., a
subsidiary of China Poly Group Corporation, singed a contract with the General Sir
John Kotelawala Defense University (KDU) in Sri Lanka for the construction of
the KDU Teaching Hospital. Located in Colombo, capital of
Sri Lanka, the 704-bed hospital complex covers an area of about 150,000㎡ with the total
building area of about 126,000㎡. The hospital will provide
tertiary care facilities to the general public and train both undergraduate and
postgraduate military medical students.
The construction work was launched on July 28, 2013 and is expected to
be completed and put into service in 2017. By far, the roof of the main
building has been sealed, and the teaching building has been put intoservice.
The constructions of other facilities such as dormitories and canteens have
entered the final phase and will be put into services later.
As a landmark in Colombo, this project is expected to be the largest
and most advanced hospital in not only Sri Lanka but also the whole region of south
Asia. It will substantially improve local medical conditions and promote
domestic medical and health services in Sri Lanka. A great deal of medical
talents will also be cultivated and transported from here to Sri Lanka as well
as the neighboring countries.
