The Belt and Road (B&R) Initiative, the most important and influential initiative in global infrastructure construction, is expected to become a new world trade blueprint in the future, said Lothar Herrmann, CEO of Siemens Greater China.

He noted that digitization is an effective way to realize economic growth, improve competitiveness and create better life. The “Made in China 2025” and the B&R Initiative call for digital-oriented innovation in China to promote industrial upgrading and enhance global competitiveness.

“The integration of artificial intelligence and human intelligence will enable manufacturing industry to enter a new era in the 21st century. Artificial intelligence is expected to be put into business in the near future, whose applications will be used not only in manufacturing industry, but also in energy, medical care, oil and gas and other fields,” said Lothar Herrmann.

At present, Siemens owns 21 R&D centers and more than 32,000 employees in China. China has became the second largest overseas market of Siemens.

“The proposal of ‘Made in China 2025’ and the B&R Initiative will provide hard-won opportunities for Siemens. Siemens is looking forward to joining hands with Chinese enterprises and becoming an active participant of the B&R Initiative,” according to Lothar Herrmann.
