The US government and media have shown positive feedback on the Belt and Road Initiative as after the forum was staged on May 14 - 15 in Beijing.

"There are a lot of areas that we are going to continue to work with China to develop a way forward," The White House spokesperson Sean Spicer said on May 15.

The National Security Council senior director for East Asia named by President Trump to represent the United States at the Belt and Road Forum, Matthew Pottinger, spoke on May 14 that American companies are ready to get involved in China's Belt and Road projects.

Voice of America reported on May 15 that although the Belt and Road Initiative has not involved the United States, the US encourages its companies to seek potential business opportunities from the initiative.

The New York Times reports that General Electric has received US$2.3 billion worth of orders from Chinese construction enterprises from 2014 to 2016, and most of the equipment will be used in the Belt and Road projects.

It further comments that US companies like GE need to look for new markets out of China, and that’s what the Belt and Road Initiative can provide.

The Wall Street Journal reported on Monday that the Belt and Road infrastructure projects bring about huge business opportunities to Western cross-border companies.
