The Jakarta-Bandung high-speed railway (HSR) project jointly carried out by a China-Indonesia firm consortium has made significant progress and entered into a new stage of comprehensive implementation.

China Railway said in a statement on Friday that the project licensing, financing and land acquisition have been put in place gradually, and the construction of 22 controlling works has made breakthrough.

The 142.3 km-long project will connect Indonesia's capital Jakarta and West Java's capital Bandung in the southeast. With a speed of 350 km per hour, the Chinese-technology high-speed train was capable of serving a single trip between the two cities in about 40 minutes from more than three hours previously.

China Railway said the full-swing construction of the project will stimulate the growth of Indonesia's equipment and materials sectors as well as create more job opportunities.

Currently, there are more than 2,000 local employees working for this project and is expected to increase in the future, according to Chinese railway company.

China Railway said it will continue to train the local employees and supports Indonesia's efforts in developing its own HSR talents.

China Railway said the consortium will assure the smooth implementation of the project by strengthening cooperation and intensifying the project's quality and safety control.
