China, Luxembourg sign MOU within Belt and Road Initiative

China and Luxembourg have signed memorandums of understanding on jointly building the Belt and Road cooperation, according to the website of China's National Development and Reform Commission.

The agreement was signed by Ning Jizhe, deputy head of NDRC, and Marc Hubsch, Luxembourg ambassador to China, in the presence of two countries' prime ministers.

During the meeting between Chinese Premier Li Keqiang and Luxembourg Prime Minister Xavier Bettel, Li said China is ready to work with Luxembourg to expand two-way opening-up and deepen pragmatic cooperation, particularly financial cooperation.

Bettel said Luxembourg firmly supported the China-EU comprehensive strategic partnership and the construction of the BRI, and it hoped to enhance mutually beneficial cooperation with China.

Luxembourg's support for the China-proposed BRI came a week after Italy signed a memorandum with China to jointly advance the construction of the BRI. Italy officially became the first G7 country to join the BRI.
