Twenty China-Europe freight trains entered China through Manzhouli on the China-Russia border Wednesday, setting the daily record, local railway authorities said.
The bilateral trade between China and Russia continues to heat up as the Belt and Road Initiative advances.
The average number of inbound freight trains this year jumped to 13 a day, said China Railway Harbin Group.
As of Monday, a total of 7.83 million tonnes of inbound and outbound goods -- mostly timber, fertilizers and grain and oil products -- had passed through the port this year, up 6 percent year on year.
Thanks to smooth cooperation between the two countries, freight trains can be cleared by customs in four hours.
