TUNIS, April 16 (Xinhua) -- The China National Building Material Group Corporation (CNBM)'s Sinoma Cement Co., Ltd. has acquired Tunisia's Les Ciments de Jbel Oust (CJO) cement company.

At an asset handover ceremony held on Tuesday in northeast Tunisia's Zaghouan province, Jalel Tebib, director of the Tunisian Foreign Investment Promotion Agency, told Xinhua that this investment once again demonstrated the strong partnership between China and Tunisia, and proved the confidence of the Chinese business community in investing in Tunisia.

Tebib said he is confident that the investment will achieve a win-win result.

CNBM Deputy General Manager Wei Rushan said at the ceremony that the CNBM will further expand its business and optimize the market layout by investing in Tunisia.

He said the CNBM will introduce intelligent control systems and advanced production technologies to upgrade the CJO's production lines, improve product quality, reduce energy consumption, and promote the transformation of Tunisia's cement industry toward higher efficiency and low carbon emission.

The investment will hopefully provide more employment opportunities for locals and improve the management of employees, said Wei.

The CJO was a major cement company in Tunisia.
