Cooperation framework of BRI
The Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) is rooted in the ancient Silk Road. Spanning different regions, stages of development and civilizations, it is an open and inclusive platform for cooperation, and a global public good created by all parties involved. It opens to all like-minded friends without exclusion or targeting any specific party. Belt and Road cooperation partners include countries and regions from Asia, Europe, Africa, the Americas, and Oceania.
In accordance with the cooperation priorities of the BRI, China has proposed a cooperation framework comprising "six corridors, six routes, and multiple countries and ports". The "six corridors" refer to the New Eurasian Land Bridge, the China-Mongolia-Russia Economic Corridor, the China-Central Asia-West Asia Economic Corridor, the China-Indochina Peninsula Economic Corridor, the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, and the Bangladesh-China-India-Myanmar Economic Corridor.
The "six routes" refer to the railways, highways, shipping, aviation, pipelines, and the comprehensive information network of cyberspace, which are the main content of infrastructure connectivity.
The "multiple countries" refer to a group of Belt and Road partner countries. There are many countries participating in the BRI. China should cooperate with these countries on an equal and mutually beneficial basis. It also needs to cooperate with some countries in advance to achieve demonstrative and exemplary cooperation results that embody the Belt and Road cooperation philosophy, so as to attract more countries to participate in Belt and Road cooperation.
The "multiple ports" refer to several cooperative ports that ensure the safety and smoothness of maritime transportation. By constructing important ports and node cities in partnership with countries participating in the BRI, maritime cooperation can be further developed. The "six corridors, six routes, and multiple countries and ports" are the main framework of the BRI, providing clear guidance for Belt and Road cooperation among partner countries.
