On August 15, a commencement ceremony was conducted for the SimFer Simandou mining contract ,which is being delivered by a consortium composed of China Aluminum International Engineering Corporation Limited and China Railway 19th Bureau Group Co., Ltd. The contract was awarded in April and officially signed at the end of June this year. After nearly four months of rapid mobilization, the relevant equipment and personnel arrived on site sequentially. The start-up of the SimFer mining contract marks the first breakthrough for Chalieco’s overseas business in mining operation.

The Simandou Iron Mine, located in the Republic of Guinea, West Africa, is one of the world's largest high-grade hematite mines. The project’s blocks 3 and 4 are invested by the concession holder, Simfer S.A. (a joint venture between the Government of Guinea, Rio Tinto and Chinalco), with expected annual production of 60 million tons following ramp up of operations. Chalieco’s project primarily involves iron ore mining and stripping and the construction and maintenance of related transportation roads and infrastructure.

Chalieco will make all efforts to always integrate the concepts of "safety, environmental protection, high quality and sustainability" into every work, and create a new model for Rio Tinto and Chinalco to further deepen cooperation and achieve win-win development.
