Jiangsu sees booming trade with BRI countries in 2019

East China's Jiangsu Province saw its trade with countries and regions along the Belt and Road up 9.4 percent year on year in 2019.

Jiangsu's total foreign trade remained basically stable in 2019, with exports increasing by 2.1 percent year on year, Wu Zhenglong, Jiangsu's governor, said Wednesday at the annual session of the provincial people's congress.

The actual use of foreign capital in 2019 in the province reached 25.7 billion U.S. dollars. Among the total, manufacturing and strategic emerging industries increased by 18 percent and 32 percent, respectively.

The province has accelerated the construction of the China-Kazakhstan logistics cooperation base, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization international logistics park and the Huaihai international land port to further promote opening up.

It has also established the Jiangsu pilot free trade zone to facilitate foreign investment, according to the work report.

Jiangsu's GDP is estimated to have grown by about 6.4 percent year on year to reach 10 trillion yuan (about 1.45 trillion dollars) in 2019, according to the work report.
