Argentine ambassador hopes for further cooperation with China
China and Argentina are conducting effective cooperation against the COVID-19 pandemic, and Argentina is looking to partner with western China in innovation, new energy, education and other fields, said Argentine Ambassador to China Sabino Vaca Narvaja.
Vaca Narvaja thanked China for its support during the pandemic, including more than 1,500 tonnes of medical supplies sent to Argentina last year. In an interview with Xinhua in Chengdu, capital of southwest China's Sichuan Province, he said that he had taken a Chinese vaccine.
China has provided 4 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines to Argentina, while another 6 million doses of Chinese vaccines will arrive in Argentina in the next two months, according to Vaca Narvaja. The two countries are currently conducting joint vaccine trials, and Chinese vaccines are expected to be produced in Argentina.
The ambassador said that China, as a responsible major country, has offered vaccines to more than 80 countries, making a great contribution to the global fight against the virus. He added that Argentina is confident in the Chinese vaccines, which are safe and well accepted by the Argentine public. He said he hopes Argentina can cooperate with more Chinese vaccine companies in the future.
He said Argentina looks forward to deepening cooperation with western China in fields including trade, scientific and technological innovation, new energy, culture, tourism and education. He also expressed a wish to see a new air route linking Argentina and Sichuan to facilitate personnel exchanges and the transport of goods.
