Asia will become a big family, said the Thai Ambassador to China, Piriya Khempon, during the Thai Cultural Day activity in Beijing on Aug 19.

The China-Thailand high-speed railway is conducive to the construction of the Eastern Economic Corridor in Thailand and the Thai government has made policies to attract Chinese high-technology companies to invest in the region, he said.

The journey from Kunming, Southwest China's Yunnan Province, to Bangkok takes about seven hours by high-speed train.

As the two countries increase exchanges and deepen links in tourism and commerce, the Thai people's understanding of the China-Thailand high-speed railway project will become deeper. As an international railway it is necessary for Thailand to be prudent and look after its strategic interests, he added.
