UCLG ASPAC Tourism Committee holds first congress in Xi'an

The first congress of the United Cities and Local Governments Asia Pacific (UCLG ASPAC) Tourism Committee was held in Xi'an, capital of Northwest China's Shaanxi province, on June 10.
Representatives, experts and scholars from various member cities gathered in the city either online or in-person to jointly build a new platform for cultural and tourism exchanges and cooperation.
The congress was chaired by Xi'an Deputy Mayor Xiao Qi, and Xi'an Mayor Li Mingyuan attended the congress and delivered a speech.
Li said that as the initiating city of the UCLG ASPAC Tourism Committee, Xi'an will maintain its modern edge, focus on building a market reciprocity mechanism, and organize relevant training and activities to bring new vitality to the tourism industry in the Asia-Pacific region and contribute to the early recovery of the global tourism industry.

The logo of the UCLG ASPAC Tourism Committee was released at the congress and the committee's charter was reviewed and approved.
In addition, the first presidium and members of the council of the first congress were announced through on-site voting, and the annual work plan of the UCLG ASPAC Tourism Committee was read aloud.
Meanwhile, the congress approved the application of new member cities to the UCLG ASPAC Tourism Committee, and launched the committee's official website.
So far, 39 cities have joined the UCLG ASPAC Tourism Committee, including 23 domestic cities and 16 foreign cities.
Since its establishment in September 2021, the UCLG ASPAC Tourism Committee has been committed to promoting tourism exchanges and cooperation among member cities.
