Huawei hosts job fair linking new graduates to Ethiopia's ICT sector
The job fair, which was held from August 24 to 25 with a goal of discovering local talent, was organized in collaboration with Bahir Dar University and other partners with the purpose of promoting jobs to newly graduating students.
The event attracted graduates from Bahir Dar, Gondar, Enjibara and Debark universities, in which more than 800 resumes were collected from participants at the event, Huawei Ethiopia disclosed in a statement issued Friday.
The best candidates will be chosen from the resumes and will be given a chance to join the company, the statement noted.
"We discussed the job fair with a few of the applicants. They are delighted to be able to submit their resumes and connect with Huawei and other companies. They also requested that Huawei hire more people and provide a large number of internship opportunities," the statement read.
With its positive track record for encouraging new graduates from all over Ethiopia, the company offers opportunities to young Ethiopian ICT students and graduates with prior experience.
"We welcome recent graduates to gain experience by working as interns in our offices," the company said, adding that it will continue offering selected interns the opportunity to work in the company.
"Our goal for this year was to provide internship opportunities to over 300 interns, which we have already accomplished," it said.
In order to promote opportunities to graduate students, Huawei Ethiopia has hosted a number of job fairs.
In May this year, the company in collaboration with the Addis Ababa University in the Ethiopian capital organized its second annual hand-shaking forum. It also held its first round of regional job fairs in Hawassa and Haromaya recently.
Huawei, a global leader in information and communications technology infrastructure, has been working in Ethiopia for more than 20 years.
