China's cellphone shipments shrink in July

BEIJING, Sept. 13 (Xinhua) -- China's shipments of cellphones saw a decline in July, with fewer new models hitting the domestic market, industrial data showed on Tuesday.
Domestic shipments of cellphones totaled 19.908 million units in July, down 30.6 percent year on year, according to the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT).
Cellphones enabling 5G services took the lion's share of July's shipments with 14.672 million units, a 35.7-percent year-on-year decline.
In the first seven months of this year, domestic cellphone shipments dropped to 156 million units, down 23 percent year on year.
A total of 22 new models hit the domestic market in July, down 15.4 percent from July 2021, CAICT data showed.
