In 2022, China-Europe freight train Xi'an ranked the first nationwide in the three core indicators of operating volume, freight volume and heavy container rate, reported China Youth Daily Saturday citing words from China Railway Xi'an Group.

During 2022, Xi'an operated a total of 4,639 trains throughout the year, a year-on-year increase of 20.8 percent. 4.117 million tonnes of goods were transported, a year-on-year increase of 43.3 percent, providing strong transportation support for construction of the Belt and Road and new development pattern of domestic and international dual circulation.

Currently, Xi'an regularly operates 17 overseas freight train lines, as well as 22 domestic round-trip scheduled operation lines, achieving full coverage of the main source areas in Eurasia. Through the succession of the westbound China-Europe train, eastbound rail-sea combined transport train, southbound China-Laos, China-Vietnam land-sea corridor trains, the layout of the China-Europe freight train network has been further optimized in Xi'an.

Besides, during the period, China Railway Xi'an Group has also carried out three expansions and transformations of Xi'an International Port Station, increasing the number of cargo lines by 9, expanding the yard by 110,000 square meters, which increased the loading and unloading capacity by 30 percent.
