Exploring the establishment of a dual-way bidding and tendering mechanism, establishing a database for Taiwanese experts, and selecting a few Taiwanese enterprises and local enterprises in Pingtan to constitute a consortium for directional bidding and tendering will be the new early and pilot measures of China (Fujian) Pilot Free Trade Zone (FJFTZ) Pingtan Area for Taiwan.

FJFTZ Pingtan Area will continue to advance the integration, co-existence, mutual recognition and interconnection of mainland standards and Taiwanese standards, in a bid to build a common home of the mainland and Taiwan, said Lin Shunjie, Vice Chairman of the Administrative Committee of FJFTZ Pingtan Area when attending a press conference of FJFTZ Pingtan Area for deepening reform and opening-up on the afternoon of June 11.

On April 21, 2015, FJFTZ consisting of three areas (Fuzhou, Xiamen, Pingtan) was established, with an area of 118.04 square kilometers. Lin noted that FJFTZ Pingtan Area has achieved significant results in a wide range of fields including the function of government administration, investment management system, customs clearance facilitation and mainland-Taiwan integration, gradually released the dividend from reform and opening-up, and achieved expected objectives and effects overall.

FJFTZ Pingtan Area has supported Taiwan-funded senior care services and hospitals in enjoying equal policy treatment as domestic-funded social welfare institutions and public hospitals enjoy; has built mainland-Taiwan youth employment and entrepreneurship platforms, explored the recognition of Taiwanese professional qualifications and established a mainland-Taiwan professional qualification appraisal center; has advanced the construction of Dalutone and other mainland-Taiwan information platforms; has prospered Taiwan Venture Park, Small-scale Trade Market, Beigang Cultural & Creative Village, Taiwan Culture Plaza and other carriers; and has developed new channels for mainland-Taiwan exchanges, including giving Taiwan compatriots higher administration authority in the Taiwanese community and recruiting Taiwanese specialists for social and public administration, said him.

Deepening mainland-Taiwan economic industry cooperation and connection will become another important field in FJFTZ Pingtan Area. The area will speed up the construction of trade carriers including Haixi Quarantine Center, Taiwan Tourism Factory Industrial Park, Mainland-Taiwan Express Delivery Center and Agricultural & Sideline Product Distribution Center, establish a characteristic mainland-Taiwan trade agglomeration zone, establish and improve auxiliary regulatory systems for cross-border e-commerce, maintenance and inspection, R&D and design, and other business forms, to promote the development of new business forms in international trade, said Lin.

The construction of the mainland-Taiwan high-end medical and characteristic medical agglomeration zone will be sped up. Lin noted that FJFTZ Pingtan Area would strive for supporting policies, and introduce small but fine medical resources from Taiwan and abroad; would provide TCM treatment, TCM dietary treatment and other characteristic services based on the inaugurated Cross-Straits TCM Center; and would promote the cooperation in setting standards for Chinese herbal medicines and build Cross-Straits TCM Production, Learning and Research Base through Chinese herbal medicine centers in the mainland and Taiwan.
