Zhanjiang's Olympic Sports Center will be awash with all aspects of marine economy from Nov 24 to 27, as the southern Guangdong city hosts the 2016 China Marine Economy Expo (CMEE).

Themed on "innovation, green economy, openness and cooperation", the 10-hectare exhibiting area is divided into six zones, comprised of three exhibition areas, featuring international, national and industrial halls, and three experience zones for marine makers, sales exhibition and tourism features.

Countries along the 21st century Maritime Silk Road are invited to the CMEE to share their latest developments in marine economy in the international hall.

As this year's guest of honor, Thailand will have a special area to display its marine economy, projects, and products, showcasing China's exchanges and cooperation with countries along the Belt and Road.

The national hall will feature China's strategies for the 21st century Maritime Silk Road Initiative and its latest marine achievements, highlighting marine industry development planning for the national 13th Five-Year Plan (2016-20).

Visitors will be able to explore displays featuring models of Chinese research stations based in the Antarctic, as well a 1:1 model of Jiaolong -- a Chinese-made deep-sea research submersible, and the icebreaker, Xuelong, or Snow Dragon.

As well as static displays, some will be interactive, including a model research station which can be contacted via video link.

The Industrial hall will showcase latest technologies and products in marine energy resources, marine engineering equipment, marine science and technology, marine biological medicine, port logistics, ocean environmental protection, marine culture, marine tourism and ocean military technology.

For makers, the 2016 CMEE will provide an ideal arena to display their talents, where 3-D printers, aircraft, smart cars and robots among others will be on show. The expo aims to be a platform for new and innovative Chinese marine technology and industry integration.

At marine makers zone, Zhanjiang Marine Industry Demonstration Area will exhibit local awarded innovative projects in marine big data, finance, and technology.

A large number of visitors are expected to attend the products exhibition zone, seeking business opportunities.

The sixth and last zone, the tourism and culture area, will display scenic spots in Guangdong, Hainan and Guangxi, in addition to hosting several activities and performances, including beach sports and there will even be a warship on display.
