E-commerce companies eyes opportunities on Belt and Road

China's e-commerce companies are expanding quickly in countries along the Belt and Road, Economic Information Daily reports.

Alibaba announced its global e-commerce platform Aliexpress has so far covered all countries and regions along the Belt and Road. Russia, Ukraine, Israel, Belarus and Poland are the five countries with the strongest purchasing power among the countries. Mobile phone and its components, jewelry, woman clothes, and cosmetics made in China are the most popular commodities for foreign online buyers.

Kaola, a global e-commerce platform of Netease, revealed that it will further expand its deep cooperation with Thai partners, helping them to enter the Chinese market.

Jack Ma, Alibaba's board chairman, called for the building of an e-World Trade Platform.

Mobile payment companies from China are also actively expanding their business to the Belt and Road countries.

Ant Finance, a mobile payment company of Alibaba, is cooperating with India, Thailand, the Philippines and Indonesia to create localized Alipay platforms.

WeChat Pay, a mobile payment platform of Tencent, is developing fast in Thailand. Many shops in the tourist resorts offer WeChat Pay services.

China's financial agencies will certainly play an important role as strong supporters for the Belt and Road infrastructure projects around the world, said Li Yang, council president of the Beijing-based State Finance and Development Experiment Lab.
