A China-Europe freight train departed from Guangzhou's Dalang Railway Station on Monday and would arrive in Vientiane, the capital of Laos through China-Laos Railway in about seven days, reported a local newspaper on Tuesday.

Loaded with 42 TEUs weighing around 360 tons, the freight train mainly carried cargos including electronic tools and furniture.

Since started operation on Dec. 3, 2021, China-Laos Railway has gradually become an important logistics channel for trade between China and Laos by virtue of low logistics cost, strong safety, and environmental protection, said relevant person in charge of a local customs clearance company.

Statistics from Guangzhou Customs showed that, since the beginning of this year, China-Europe freight train departed from Guangzhou Dalang has opened two new routes, forming a total of 10 regular fixed routes, further shortening shipping time between Guangzhou and Southeast Asia, East Asia, and European countries and regions.

As of March 28 this year, Guangzhou Customs has witnessed 31 freight trains carrying a total of 3,030 TEUs, with the total cargo weight of 16,830 tons, a year-on-year increase of 24 percent, 21.3 percent, and 36.38 percent respectively.
