S. China's Hainan sees offshore duty-free sales exceed RMB 15 bln since 2022

The total sales value of offshore duty-free shops in south China's Hainan Province has exceeded 15 billion yuan as of March 23, according to data from the provincial department of commerce.

In the first two months, the sales of the ten duty-free shops in Hainan totaled 12.873 billion yuan, up 33 percent year on year.

Affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, the duty-free sales of the shops stood at 2.296 billion yuan from March 1 to 23, showing a year-on-year downward trend.

The ten duty-free shops in Hainan have launched a series of consumption promotion campaigns to spur market vitality since the start of this year, according to the department.

Meanwhile, a number of internationally famous brands have unveiled new products and opened new stores to keep tapping consumption potential.

It's learned that the island province has set the target of over 100 billion yuan in total sales from its duty-free shops in 2022.
