The 131st China Import and Export Fair, also known as Canton Fair, attracted 536,000 overseas buyers from 228 countries and regions, hitting a record high, reported Economic Information Daily recently.

The Canton Fair was held online from April 15 to 24. It attracted 298,100 buyers from Belt and Road countries and 150,800 buyers from members of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), accounting for over 55.6 percent and 28.12 percent respectively.

Xu Bing, a spokesperson of the Canton Fair and deputy director of China Foreign Trade Centre (CFTC), said that during the event, 25,500 exhibitors showcased their enterprises, products, and brands through multiple ways of graphic, video, 3D, and VR.

A total of 3,052,100 exhibits were presented online. Among them, 951,500 exhibits were new ones, hitting a record high.

Meanwhile, the total number of visits to the online exhibition hall reached 6,223,100.

The Canton Fair remains committed to facilitating global trade despite the complicated and severe economic and trade situation since its inception in 1957. This session, the Fair opened online due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
