Development indices of industrial Internet and digital manufacturing for BRICS countries released

The development indices of industrial Internet and digital manufacturing for BRICS countries were released on Tuesday at Xiamen city in east China's Fujian Province.

The indices showed that BRICS countries including Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, have respective edges in the industrial Internet and digital manufacturing sector.

Compiled by the China Center for Information Industry Development (CCID), the Industrial Internet Development Index (IIDI) measures a country's performance based on four tier-1 indicators, such as basic environment, industrial development, market vitality and global influence, as well as eight tier-2 indicators.

The result showed that China and India have excelled with scores of 39.15 and 35.87, respectively, while Russia, Brazil and South Africa scored 34.00, 31.44 and 30.81, showing ample growth potential.

For the Digital Manufacturing Development Index (DMDI), China ranked the first with score of 37.5 after being assessed in multiple dimensions including coordination, industry, sci-tech innovation and environment.

To be specific, China and Brazil showed excellent performance in coordination and sci-tech innovation, while India and South Africa played leading roles in terms of industrial development and environment.

It is reported that applying method of quantitative analysis, the indices evaluated the current performance and cooperation potential of BRICS countries in the field of industrial Internet and digital manufacturing, aiming to facilitate cooperation between BRICS countries with data reference.
