A Chinese-English version of The Three Kingdoms, a classic historical novel authored by Luo Guanzhong (1330-1400), was recently published by the Shanghai Foreign Language Education Press. It was translated by Yu Sumei and edited by Ronald C. Iverson.

This means that all of the four classic novels of China have been published in Chinese-English version by the SFLEP, a milestone in Chinese culture's going out, as the four novels not only represent a historic peak of the Chinese language, but are a window onto Chinese culture and history.

The other three books are The Marshes of Mount Liang (also known as Outlaws of the Marsh), authored by Shi Naian (1296-1370) and translated by John and Alex Dent-Young; The Story of the Stone (Dream of the Red Chamber), authored by Cao Xueqin (1715-1763) and translated by David Hawkes, and Journey to the West authored by Wu Cheng'en (1500-1583) and translated by Anthony C. Yu.
