China (Shandong)-Jamaica investment promotion conference was held online on Thursday, aiming to promote economic, trade, and investment cooperation between east China's Shandong Province and Jamaica, reported Chinanews.com.

The conference serves as a bridge for Shandong and Jamaica to join hands in sectors such as agriculture, fishery, manufacturing, and renewable energy, according to Chen Daojiang, Chinese ambassador to Jamaica.

It is also a significant event to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of China-Jamaica diplomatic relations, said Chen.

Leslie Campbell, state minister in the ministry of foreign affairs and foreign trade of Jamaica, said that the conference came at an opportune time. It would further enhance mutual understanding between Shandong and Jamaica, propel cooperation and bring more benefits to people.

Shandong has engaged in close exchanges and cooperation with Jamaica in recent years. Data showed that the province's trade with Jamaica in 2021 reached 685 million yuan, up 41.2 percent year on year.
