An international architecture university union for countries along the Belt and Road routes was set up in Beijing on October 10.

The union, initiated by the Beijing University of Civil Engineering and Architecture (BUCEA), so far includes 44 architecture universities from 19 countries, such as Russia, U.S., UK, Greece, Nepal, and Israel.

The union aims to build a platform for international coordination and innovation as well as to promote innovative research and exchanges among students and teachers.

In addition to BUCEA, China's Anhui Jianzhu University, Hebei University of Architecture, National University of Architecture and Construction of Armenia, Greece's Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, and Poland's Warsaw University of Technology also joined the union.

Connectivity of infrastructure, which plays an important role in the development of the Belt and Road, requires the cultivation of architecture talents and support of cutting-edge technologies, said Wang Jianzhong, party secretary of BUCEA. The union will help enhance the communication and cooperation among architecture universities and promote the development along the Belt and Road routes and in the Eurasian region.
