Indonesia has sent a mission to take part in 2017 China International Travel Mart (CITM) slated for Friday to Sunday in Kunming, China's southern province of Yunnan, aimed at tapping potentials from China's huge tourism market, a statement released by Indonesian Tourism Ministry said here on Wednesday.

Indonesia will bring 40 tourism-related business firms and representatives of 11 provinces to promote destinations in their respective regions during the upcoming three-day event.

Among the Indonesian tourism firms brought to the CITM this year were the ones running hotels, travel agents, cruise lines and diving spot businesses.

Indonesian exhibit in 2017 CITM would highlight traditional Phinisi vessel theme, to showcase various traditional and cultural attractions, national foods and beverages.

Indonesia would use the 2017 CITM event to further promote its two cities to host the 2018 Asian Games sports event, namely Jakarta and Palembang.

The nation would also promote its new 10 destinations across the country, highly expected to par with its resort island of Bali in attracting foreign tourists, the statement said.

The ministry learned that arrivals of tourists from China have been increasing significantly in the last few years.

They accounted for 12 percent of foreign tourists that visited Indonesia last year, up from 11 percent a year earlier, making China the second largest tourism market for Indonesia after Singapore.

Phenomenal arrival growth of tourists from China in Indonesia was seen in the first nine months last year to more than 1.6 million, or 45.68 percent higher than the same period a year earlier.
