Indonesia, China agree to jointly build industrial zones outside Java

China and Indonesia recently reached consensus on developing industrial zones outside the Java Island under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative, according to a report from local Indonesian media.

After a meeting between Indonesia’s Industrial Minister Airlangga Hartarto and Chinese ambassador to Indonesia Xiao Qian, they agreed to build industrial zones in North Sumatra, North Kalimantan and North Sulawesi, which is in line with the country’s plan to develop industrial zones outside Java Island.
