East China's Anhui province plans to strengthen the connectivity with countries along the Belt and Road by expanding and optimizing its transport services in 2019, said Wei Xiaojun, an official with Anhui Provincial Development and Reform Commission.

According to Wei, the province will further increase the number of China-Europe freight trains and flights linking to B&R countries, as well as upgrade its existing transportation networks.

In 2018, a total of 200 China-Europe freight trains has departed from Hefei, capital city of Anhui, doubling the number of the year-earlier period, and a new flight has been launched to link Hefei with Moscow.

Up to now, Anhui has opened 15 international passenger flights to reach countries including Singapore, Thailand and Germany, and a cargo flight destined for Los Angeles.
