Ansteel Group Corporation was originated from the combination of Anshan Iron and Steel Group Corporation and Panzhihua Iron & Steel Group Corporation in May 2010. Anshan Iron and Steel Group Corporation was the first large-sized steel maker and the earliest steel production base created after New China was proclaimed. Therefore, it was known as the “Cradle of the Chinese Steel Industry” and the “Eldest Son of the Steel Industry of the Republic”; Pangang is the largest vanadium maker in China and second largest in the world, the largest titanium raw material production base and also an important production base of titanium pigment, railway steel, seamless pipe and special steel. After reorganization, Ansteel Group has formed cross-regional, multi-base and international operation layout and became a steel enterprise with the most complete layout and the greatest resources advantages in China. Ansteel Group was awarded the “Innovative Enterprise” title by the State, “National Model Unit of Intellectual Property Right Among Enterprises and Institutions ” in the first batch, Achievement Award of Enterprise Technological Center determined by the state and the first steel enterprise with complete capacity of technology export in China. In 2011, Ansteel took the 462nd place among the 500 Largest Global Corporations. Now, Ansteel Group has the production capacity of 38.60 million tons of raw steel and pig iron.

Domestic layout is becoming better and better. Ansteel has production bases in Anshan, Bayuquan and Chaoyang of the northeast region and Panzhihua, Chengdu, Jiangyou, Xichang and Chongqing in Southwest region. Ansteel reorganized Tiantie Metallurgical Group Corporation realizing the layout in Tianjin in North China and newly built Ansteel Cold Rolled Plate (Putian) Project in Southeast region. Ansteel has complete series of steel products including hot- and cold-rolled sheet, galvanized sheet, color coated sheet, cold-rolled silicon steel, heavy rail, seamless pipe, wire rod and steel rope. 

Transnational group structure has been basically formed. Ansteel established perfect overseas sales system and exported its products to the USA, UK, Japan and other 30 countries and regions, and overseas steel service center and joint venture sales company in Italy, Spain and UK. Ansteel became the first majority shareholder of Gindalbie Metals Ltd., Australia and constructed the joint venture project of Karara Iron Ore Mines with it, marking that Ansteel established the first overseas raw material production and supply base. Ansteel and CITIC Metal Co., Ltd. purchased 15% shares of Companhia Brasileira de Metalurgia e Mineração (CBMM) ----- the largest niobium producer in the world, thus Ansteel became the first Chinese steel enterprise to invest and establish plants in the USA.

Ansteel Group Corporation is the largest rail and ship plate producer in China, domestic seamless pipe producer with the most complete product structures, high-end automotive plate and home appliance plate producer in the top two positions of this industry, takes the domestic first and international second place in vanadium products and also the largest titanium raw material base and important production base of titanium pigment in China. As the super large-sized state-owned steel complex and world famous enterprise, Ansteel Group aims at “Building the High-quality Product Base and Creating the World-famous Brand”, foots on the principal business of iron and steel, produces high-tech content and high value-added steel products and has independently developed a batch of high-end products leading industry development, such as water turbine volute plate for Three Gorges Project, cold-rolled oriented silicon steel, X100 pipeline steel, high-strength extra-low carbon bainite engineering mechanical steel and high-strength and extra-high-strength ship plate and high-strength and high-surface technical automotive plate etc.. Ansteel has produced key equipment steel for nuclear island which can replace imported ones and has formed three series of products for nuclear power steel. Ansteel has successfully developed special plate for liquefied ethylene gas carrier which filled domestic gap, carried out the R&D of the second generation automotive steel and successfully produced hot-rolled medium plate and coil and cold-rolled products which meets the demand of light weight in automotive industry. 

Non-steel industry has become an important support of Ansteel. Focusing on the development demand of the principal business of iron and steel, Ansteel Group has been greatly developing high-end equipment manufacturing industry. In hydropower equipment field, Ansteel has ranked among the list of world top hydropower casting manufacturers. In ship equipment field, Ansteel has become a ship crankshaft blank producer with the widest production range and most accreditation of classification societies in China. In addition, Ansteel has been developing green energy-saving and environmental protection industries and making full use of metallurgical slag resources. Ansteel has international-advanced steel slag magnetic separation processing line and fine slag production line as well as steel slag product deep processing line with national patent. Ansteel established a one-time melting slag braising production line in Bayuquan base, which can produce more than 10 series of metallurgical slag products widely used in steel and building industry. In wire rod deep processing field, Ansteel has established the largest multilayer strand closing machine in China, thus “Ansteel Brand” steel wire rope for cableway successfully makes up more than 95% of shares in the domestic market. Besides, Ansteel successively entered cold-rolled working roll chromating, continuous casting mold flux, water treatment chemicals and other fields and provided a batch of advanced products with strong competitiveness.

At present, steel industry is in the period of significant structure adjustment. We will accelerate transformation and upgrading according to our actual development situation. In strategy, we will change from attaching importance on growth and layout in the past to improving the whole competitiveness, focus on the target of “to build the most competitive transnational steel group in the world and become the leading enterprise of steel industry in China”, greatly implement Six Development Strategies ------“to be stronger in high-quality steel, to be larger in resource advantages, to be optimum in characterized vanadium and titanium, to be better in non-steel industry, to be more complete in innovation and transformation and to be more stable in transnational operation” and promote industry transformation and upgrading. Therefore, Ansteel Group Corporation determined its strategic development target in the “Twelfth Five-Year Plan”, i.e. by 2015, Ansteel will get into the world top 5 steel makers by annual raw steel output, leading the development of the international steel industry, so as to become a most competitive super large-sized transnational corporation with coordinated development of diversified industries, which is extra strong in the steel industry in the world, takes the leading position in the world's vanadium industry and the first place in the domestic titanium industry.
