China issues its first big data report on the Belt and Road Initiative in Beijing on October 28. Based on more than 300 billion pieces of data, the report comprehensively evaluates the construction process of the Belt and Road Initiative since it was proposed three years ago.

According to analysis, Russia, Kazakhstan, Thailand, Pakistan and India ranks top 5 in terms of bilateral cooperation with China. Domestically, provinces and cities in the eastern part of China are better involved in the Initiative than their western inland counterparts.

The book is supervised by the General Office of the Leading Group for Advancing the Building of the Belt and Road Initiative, released by the State Information Center (SIC) and published by the Commercial Press.

At the book launching ceremony, Tian Jinchen, Director-General of the Department of Western Region Development of the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), said the construction of Belt and Road projects is faster and more fruitful than expected. So far, more than 100 countries and international organizations have expressed their supports and willingness of participate into the project. And China has signed Belt and Road cooperation agreements with more than 30 countries, and started industrial cooperation with more than 20 countries.

"The book is informative in content, detailed in data and unique in analysis. I believe the book provides the society with a new perspective to observe the Belt and Road initiative,” Tian Jincheng said.

Liu Weidong, Director of the Research Center of the Belt and Road Initiative with the Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research at the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), said the book well illustrates that the Initiative is two-way opening- not only Chinese companies are going out, overseas investments are also seeking opportunities by leveraging “Belt and Road” Initiative.
