Peshawar-Karachi Motorway (PKM) in Pakistan

The PKM project in Pakistan (Sukkur-Multan section) is the largest transportation infrastructure project under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor. With a total length of 392 kilometers and a design speed of 120 kilometers per hour (Km/h), the motorway links Sukkur district of Sindh province in the south and Multan, the economic center city of Punjab province in the north. It is Pakistan's first two-way, six-lane expressway with intelligent traffic functions. The PKM project is a key project under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), a north-south traffic artery in Pakistan, as well as a demonstration project of China-Pakistan friendly cooperation. Upon completion, the project will greatly improve Pakistan's traffic conditions, directly drive the social and economic development in areas along it and benefit the Pakistani people.

CCECC participated in the construction of the Sukkur-Multan section, the fifth section of the PKM project, covering a range of 55 kilometers from K604+000 to K659+000. With the contract construction period of 36 months and the defects liability period of three years, the project kicked off on August 5, 2016, with the substantial project completed on July 23, 2019. On December 16, 2020, GM of National Highway Authority of Pakistan issued the TOC for the Chinese-built PKM project, indicating formal and comprehensive takeover and perfect contract fulfillment.

Although CCECC only participated in the construction of a section of the PKM project, it is of great significance. By virtue of its excellent construction quality and scientific and standardized management, CCECC came out top among all construction units of the project, as evidenced by praise from the owner and other contractors, fully demonstrating CCECC's sense of responsibility and achievements under the BRI.
