China launched its official Belt and Road portal (www.yidaiyilu.gov.cn) on March 21 in Beijing, according to the National Leading Group Office for Promoting the Construction of the Belt and Road Initiative. The official Weibo and WeChat accounts were also opened at the same time.
The portal, developed with the approval of the leading group office, is hosted by the State Information Center with technical and operational support from the Belt and Road State Information Big Data Technologies Co.,Ltd. and Baidu Cloud.
The portal was established with the aim of promoting information sharing, civilization exchanges and win-win cooperation. It will address key concerns at home and abroad, provide scientific explanations on the core ideas of the initiative, give interpretations to Chinese and foreign policies, laws and regulations in regard to the initiative, demonstrate the latest developments and achievements and promote information sharing and exchanges among enterprises, social organizations and citizens of countries along the Belt and Road routes.
The portal will be a gateway to top news in China and Belt and Road countries, relevant policies, progress in the top five cooperation priorities, data analysis, enterprises news and opinions. Users can also search for the information they need in the customized databases on economic data, policies, projects, enterprises and talents.
The portal, which is currently in English and Chinese, will have Russian, French, Arabic and Spanish versions within the year to reach the widest possible audience.
The portal has established an information liaison mechanism involving over 30 ministries and ministerial-level departments, all provincial-level regions in China and many countries along the routes. It’s accessible via multiple terminals, including PC and mobile phone.
