A truck bearing the TIR sign loaded with imported goods arrived in Kashgar on Nov. 3, which marked the first TIR import cargo in Xinjiang this year, reported Xinjiang Daily.

The truck, loaded with 22 tonnes of pine nuts, set off from Afghanistan on October 16, passed through Pakistan, and Khunjerab Port in China, and finally arrived in comprehensive bonded zone in Kashgar.

In order to ensure the smooth customs clearance of this batch of goods, Kashgar Customs has set up a special post for TIR business, which could quickly handle TIR customs clearance procedures. Besides, Kashgar Customs also coordinated with the port customs to tackle the electronic declaration information in advance, realizing instant pass of inbound and outboudn vehicles as well as providing one-stop services for cross-border trade.

The TIR system is a global customs facilitation system for international cross-border goods transportation based on the United Nations Convention, which aims to promote the facilitation and security of multilateral trade and international transport by simplifying customs clearance procedures and improving customs clearance efficiency.

According to the statistics of Kashgar Customs, the customs has handled a total of 212 inbound and outbound TIR vehicles. For the next step, Kashgar Customs will further promote the construction of smart customs, improve cross-border logistics supervision process, so as to advance the development of TIR international logistics and transportation.
