Chinese FM congratulates Nepal's new FM on assuming office

BEIJING, March 11 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has sent a congratulatory message to Narayan Kaji Shrestha on his assuming office as Nepal's deputy prime minister and foreign minister.

In the message dated Friday, Wang, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, said that China and Nepal are friendly neighbors linked by mountains and rivers, and also development partners with a shared future.

Since the establishment of diplomatic ties 69 years ago, the two countries have always adhered to the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence, and set an example of equality and win-win cooperation between large and small countries, he said.

Wang expressed his readiness to make joint efforts with Shrestha to further implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries and push for new progress in the China-Nepal strategic partnership of cooperation featuring ever-lasting friendship for development and prosperity.
