BEIJING, Oct. 17 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Vice President Han Zheng on Tuesday met with Nigerian Vice President Kashim Shettima, who is in Beijing to attend the third Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation.

Thanks to the guidance of the two heads of state, China and Nigeria have seen robust development in friendly exchanges and pragmatic cooperation, Han said.

China views its relations with Nigeria from a strategic, long-term perspective and stands ready to work with Nigeria to enhance political mutual trust, advance modernization, and set an example of solidarity and cooperation between major developing countries, he said.

Han said China is willing to work with Nigeria, which is among the first African countries to take part in the Belt and Road cooperation, to deepen cooperation across the board and upgrade China-Africa cooperation.

Shettima thanked China for its long-standing support for both Nigeria and other African countries, who noted that the Belt and Road Initiative has provided important guidance for international development and cooperation.

Nigeria would like to work with China to strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation and deepen the strategic partnership between the two countries, said Shettima.
