BEIJING, Aug. 26 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Monday sent a congratulatory letter to the Boao Forum for Asia (BFA) Bangkok Roundtable.

In his letter, Wang, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, noted that against the backdrop of accelerating changes in the world unseen in a century, slowing world economic growth, and challenges facing the global development agenda, the BFA, echoing the United Nations Summit of the Future, is hosting the Bangkok Roundtable under the theme of "Future of the World: From the Perspective of Asia," which is of great significance and comes at an opportune time.

Asia, as the birthplace of the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence, is an important force in promoting the transformation of the global governance system and multilateralism, Wang said.

In his letter, Wang also stressed that we should continue to hold high the banner of multilateralism, follow the vision of extensive consultation, joint contribution and shared benefits in global governance, firmly uphold the international system with the UN at its core, and promote an equal and orderly multipolar world and economic globalization that is inclusive and benefits all.

As the most dynamic and promising region in the world, Asia plays a pivotal role in the process of global sustainable development, Wang said, adding that it is imperative to look to the future and take the UN Summit of the Future as an opportunity to put development at the center of the global agenda.

Wang also noted that as the host country of the Boao Forum for Asia, China will continue to support the Forum in its foothold in Asia, global perspective, promoting cooperation, and leading the way, making greater contributions to the common development of Asia and countries around the world.
