China's top legislator meets Egyptian president

BEIJING, May 29 (Xinhua) -- China's top legislator Zhao Leji met with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi in Beijing on Wednesday.

Zhao, chairman of the National People's Congress (NPC) Standing Committee, said that China-Egypt relations have achieved leap-forward development and are at their best in history.

China is ready to work with Egypt to deliver on the important common understandings reached between the two heads of state, consolidate political mutual trust, advance practical cooperation, deepen multilateral coordination, and jointly build a China-Arab community and a China-Africa community with a shared future.

Zhao said the NPC is willing to strengthen exchanges with Egypt's parliament in various fields and at various levels, learn from each other's experience in governance, and make contributions to the friendship between the two peoples and the development of bilateral relations.

Sisi stressed Egypt's unwavering position of adhering to the one-China principle and opposing interference in China's internal affairs.

Egypt is willing to strengthen cooperation with China in various fields, deepen exchanges between legislative bodies, push for greater development of the Egypt-China comprehensive strategic partnership, and jointly contribute to promoting regional and international peace and stability, he said.
