China's Guizhou reports 5.5 pct GDP growth in Q1

GUIYANG, April 22 (Xinhua) -- Southwest China's Guizhou Province saw its gross domestic product (GDP) total 517.88 billion yuan (about 71.49 billion U.S. dollars) in the first quarter of 2024, up 5.5 percent year on year, local authorities said on Monday.

In the first three months, the value added in the province's primary sector rose 3.9 percent to 46.96 billion yuan, the value added in its secondary sector grew 7.8 percent to 195.45 billion yuan, and the value added in its tertiary sector climbed 4.3 percent to 275.47 billion yuan, according to a provincial government news briefing.

Guizhou recorded imports and exports totaling 18.92 billion yuan in the first quarter of 2024, up 23.7 percent year on year.
