In the rural areas of Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture in Southeastern Guizhou, there are 2,478 ethnic minority villages inhabited by more than 50 households. Featuring wooden structures, most of the houses cluster together near the mountains. In the case of fire, there will be irreversible damage to a large number of cultural relics, ancient buildings, traditional villages.

How to effectively prevent fires in the rural area? With big data, Southeastern Guizhou get the hang of it!

In 2016, spurred by the strategy of Big Data and Poverty Reduction in the whole province, Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture in Southeastern Guizhou introduced new ideas in using arc extinction and terminal load control devices. Setting up a big data platform of fire prevention in the countryside, the rural area can monitor and remove the fire hazards, while perfecting the mechanism wherein people use data for analyses and judgment, to issue early warnings, to facilitate decision-making and to guide the fight against fires.

In order to effectively ease the problem of poor accessibility to medical services resulting from long distances, costly expenses and various difficulties facing the masses in mountainous areas, Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture in Southeastern Guizhou has developed "Internet + medical health", actively advancing the building of telemedicine network.

By the end of August 2019, the prefecture has seen 9,451 cases of remote consultation, 46,076 cases of remote imaging diagnoses, 21,817 cases of remote ECG diagnoses, and 135 sessions of remote learning and training. Telemedicine is in place day by day.

"Village Tour" has become a quite familiar big data application among ordinary people in the region.

As the country's first intelligent transportation platform facilitating rural travels, in 2018, on the basis of the original functions of the system, the platform further integrated the modern logistics system in rural areas, vigorously leading the e-commerce into villages and selling Guizhou goods outside the mountainous areas. As a result, the rural industrialization sees orderly progress, injecting vitality into the fight against poverty and rural revitalization.

"Village Tour" sees the additional functions of rural ride-hailing and express delivery, thus playing an increasingly prominent role in the integration of urban and rural areas and regional development.

Precision is the key to targeted poverty alleviation. Based on the state system of poverty alleviation and Guizhou's cloud platform for poverty alleviation, the cloud app "Farmers" was developed to cover the overall population information of the county, integrate data of health care, education, agriculture and other departments. Consequently, there will be information sharing and data comparison, leading to more accurate documentation and card issuance for targeted poverty alleviation and saving efforts in identifying the poor family.

In 2018, "Farmers" saw 152,769 people enter their information data, including 58,297 poor people who made up files and received cards, effectively promoting poverty alleviation and rural revitalization.
