China has seen narrowing gap in electrification process with developed countries, reported Economic Daily quoting a report on China's electrification development in 2019 released by China Electricity Council (CEC) Monday.

According to the report, China's power consumption is expected to take up 55 percent to 57 percent of its primary energy consumption by 2035, and the proportion of electricity in the terminal energy consumption may rise to 36 percent to 38 percent, notching the international advanced level.

Since the implementation of the 12th Five-Year Plan, a national development plan of China, the country has reaped remarkable results in electrification development in fields like clean power generation, safe electricity supply, intelligent power system, electricity business environment, low-carbon electricity, etc, said the report.

Data showed that China's power consumption accounted for 46.4 percent of its primary energy consumption in 2018, while the electricity accounted for 25.5 percent of the terminal energy consumption.

Besides, the proportion of installed clean energy generating capacity, the average power supply reliability, the electricity consumption per capita, and the carbon dioxide emission per unit power generation, typical indicators for electrification development, all showed a sound growth momentum, indicating that China's electrification process has ushered in rapid development.
