The post-80s and -90s generations accounted for two-thirds of all consumers during a recent online shopping festival for products related to intangible cultural heritage (ICH), according to a report by Guangming Daily.

Nearly 6,500 stores took part in the shopping festival, bringing more than 80,000 types of ICH-related products to consumers, according to the report, and the post-90s and -00s generations accounted for over 70 percent of the consumers of products combining elements of ICH and other fields.

Food, clothing and household goods contributed about 60 percent of the total sales volume during the shopping festival, said the report, citing statistics from e-commerce giant Alibaba.

ICH-related workshops from poor areas in China's Sichuan, Hunan, Hebei and Gansu provinces also displayed their products online to advance poverty reduction through consumption, said the report.

Businesspeople from Nanchong City of southwest China's Sichuan Province attracted a total of 110 million viewers in 10 livestreams displaying their ICH-related products, generating sales of more than 30 million yuan (4.23 million U.S. dollars), according to the report.

The shopping festival was held on June 13, also the Cultural and Natural Heritage Day of China.
